Welcome ...
From time to time throughout the year Global Civis will host a variety of classes, workshops and forums to assist in the understanding of the world. These events are often free and always open to anyone 14 years or older. For more information about upcoming events check this website.
Our Director, Tom Beard was recently invited to hear former President Bill Clinton speak to a group of high school and college student leaders about the direction of education in Florida. Among the many topics the president covered Mr. Beard was most effected by the challenge given to not just be political activists participating in rallies or writing letters but to be the people that design HOW improvements can be made. It is in that thought that the Global Civis for Education forum was established.
Our plan will ask forum members to reach out to members of the state and national legislature; we will ask members to make phone calls and canvas neighborhoods; we will work together in gaining signatures on petitions. But none of this will be done until the forum has been called and a plan for change in education is determined.
Step one in our process is to hold an initial forum to design the plan of action and future meeting schedule. Currently Global Civis is reaching out to teachers and leaders throughout the community and nation searching for the perfect blend of forum members. If you are interested in participating please send your resume to the Global Civis staff.
